Pakistan, Libya Pledge to Strengthen Military and Counter-Terror Ties

During the meeting, both sides discussed mutual interests, regional security

RAWALPINDI: Pakistani and Libyan defence chiefs have pledged to enhance military cooperation between the two countries.

According to the ISPR, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, COAS and CDF, on an official visit to Libya, met with Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, and Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief.

On arrival, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received with a guard of honour by a contingent of the Libyan Armed Forces.

During the meeting, both sides discussed mutual interests, regional security, and ways to boost bilateral defence and military-to-military cooperation. They emphasized collaboration in training, capacity building, and counter-terrorism efforts.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Libya, while Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and expressed his desire to expand military cooperation further.
