Pakistan & Kyrgyzstan Declare Islamabad and Bishkek as Twin Cities
President Sadyr Japarov expressed gratitude for the invitation and called Pakistan a key partner for Kyrgyzstan in South Asia.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have strengthened bilateral ties by signing several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs), including a landmark deal declaring Islamabad and Bishkek as twin cities. The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.
The agreements cover a wide range of areas, including the exchange of convicted prisoners, cultural cooperation, and collaboration between the Pakistan Foreign Services Academy and the Kyrgyz Diplomatic Academy. The MoUs were exchanged in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister.
Other agreements include cooperation in trade, mining, geosciences, tourism, energy, and the use of Pakistani ports. Additional MoUs were signed for collaboration in agriculture, surgical fields, and the establishment of electronic data interchanges between the customs services of both countries.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the agreements as a major step forward in the longstanding and friendly relations between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan. He emphasized that President Japarov’s visit would enhance cooperation in energy, trade, connectivity, and other key sectors, while the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum would open new avenues for economic collaboration.

The twin city agreement between Islamabad and Bishkek marks a symbolic and practical step toward closer political, economic, and cultural relations between the two nations.
