Pakistan-Ireland T20 World Cup warm-up in Colombo washed out

Rain forced Pakistan-Ireland T20 World Cup warm-up abandonment, denying both teams valuable preparation time ahead of the global tournament.

T20 World Cup 2026 – (Web Desk) – The ninth warm-up match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 between Pakistan and Ireland was called off due to continuous rain at Colombo’s Sinhalese Sports Club on Wednesday.

Ongoing showers meant the toss could not take place, prompting officials to abandon the game early to ensure player safety.

Pakistan had come into the fixture on a high, fresh from a dominant 3–0 home T20 series victory over Australia.

The Men in Green are using the warm-up matches to fine-tune combinations ahead of the World Cup.

Ireland also came into the fixture with momentum, having secured a 2-0 series victory over the United Arab Emirates prior to the tournament.

The abandoned match marked a setback for both sides as they look to maximise game time before the start of the ICC event.
