Pakistan India Exchange Sharp Words at UN Security Council

Pakistan Rebuts Indian Claims During Heated UN Security Council Debate

NEW YORK: (Web Desk) – Pakistan and India exchanged sharp remarks during a United Nations Security Council debate on the rule of law in New York, with diplomats from both countries trading accusations over terrorism, Kashmir, and the Indus Waters Treaty, local media reported on Tuesday.

India’s Permanent Representative Parvathaneni Harish accused Pakistan of spreading misinformation, sponsoring terrorism, and violating international commitments, including the Indus Waters Treaty. Referring to the April 2025 Pahalgam attack, he alleged that Pakistan-backed militants were responsible and said India’s response was limited, targeted, and non-escalatory.

Exercising Pakistan’s right of reply, First Secretary Zulfiqar Ali rejected India’s claims, calling them baseless and politically motivated. He reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remains a disputed territory under UN resolutions and accused India of violating international law and suppressing the rights of Kashmiris.

Zulfiqar Ali also condemned India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, describing it as “water terrorism,” and warned that Pakistan would respond with resolve. He urged India to fulfill its international obligations, address human rights concerns, and pursue dialogue to ensure peace and stability in the region.
