UK Removes Pakistan from Air Safety List, Direct Flights to Resume After Five Years
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has warmly welcomed the decision by the United Kingdom’s Air Safety Committee to remove Pakistan and its airline carriers from the UK Air Safety List. The move clears the way for the resumption of direct commercial flights between Pakistan and the UK after a five-year suspension.
The decision reflects Pakistan’s sustained diplomatic and technical efforts to comply with the highest international aviation safety standards. It also underscores the country’s commitment to maintaining safe and reliable air travel.
Terming it a “landmark decision,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the development would restore vital air connectivity between the two nations and support millions of Pakistanis residing in the United Kingdom.
“With over 1.7 million British Pakistanis, this step brings enormous benefits to families, businesses, tourism, and trade,” the statement read.
Pakistan expressed gratitude to the UK authorities for acknowledging its progress in aviation safety and for their constructive cooperation during the evaluation process.
The government also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safe skies and building stronger economic, cultural, and people-to-people ties with the United Kingdom.
