Pakistan-China Trade Boost: 37 Deals Worth $435 Million Signed at HEMS 2025

Beijing— The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, in collaboration with Pakistan’s Consulates General in Shanghai, Chengdu, and Guangzhou, successfully facilitated the participation of 200 Chinese companies at the 4th Health, Engineering, and Minerals Show (HEMS) held in Lahore from April 17-19, 2025. This marks a 100% increase in participation compared to 2024, underscoring the growing economic ties between Pakistan and China.

The delegation, led by Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, reflected Pakistan’s strong commitment to enhancing trade, investment, and business cooperation with China. Over 150 Chinese companies participated in Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings across key sectors such as healthcare, engineering, minerals, and mining, resulting in the signing of 37 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), Letters of Intent (LOIs), and contracts worth over $435 million.

Key agreements include:

  • A $60 million quartz stone export deal with a $10 million investment component.

  • A $50 million Chinese investment in developing mineral resources.

  • A $45 million joint venture in medical device manufacturing.

  • An $80 million technology transfer contract in the electric vehicle sector.

Chinese companies also expressed interest in expanding investments in sectors such as salt, copper, fluorite, gemstones, IT, real estate, and branding of Pakistani products. The Embassy and Consulates are actively following up on these business leads to ensure continued progress.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif hosted a dinner for over 800 delegates from 50 countries, where the active participation of the Chinese delegation was acknowledged. The Prime Minister commended Ambassador Hashmi and his team for facilitating the largest-ever Chinese business delegation to Pakistan.

In addition to the events, Ambassador Hashmi met with the Chinese Consul General in Lahore, as well as senior Punjab Government officials, including the Chief Secretary and the Additional Secretary of the Board of Investment (BOI). He also led a roundtable discussion with provincial officials from agriculture, industry, healthcare, and investment sectors to brief them on the Embassy’s facilitation efforts for Chinese investors and to explore more targeted B2B engagements.
