Pakistan demands Majeed Brigade listing as BLA alias globally
Pakistan has called on the international community to adopt fair, objective, and non-discriminatory counter-terrorism policies, urging the designation of the Majeed Brigade as an alias of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
In a strongly worded statement issued by the Foreign Office, Pakistan emphasized its continued role as a key frontline state in the global fight against terrorism. “As Pakistan remains a bulwark against terrorism through unparalleled sacrifices and effective counter-terrorism efforts, we urge the international community to adopt impartial and unified approaches to address this global threat. This includes formally listing terrorist groups like the Majeed Brigade as aliases of banned outfits such as the BLA,” the statement read.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and security, the Foreign Office said, “Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. Our policy is grounded in zero tolerance for terrorism and strong international cooperation. Our efforts have significantly contributed to global peace, including the recent apprehension of Sharifullah, the mastermind behind the Abbey Gate bombing.”
Addressing the recent Pahalgam attack that resulted in 26 fatalities, the Foreign Office highlighted that investigations into the incident — which occurred in the internationally recognized disputed territory of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) — remain inconclusive.
Responding to alleged links between the attack and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the statement clarified: “Any suggested linkage with LeT, a defunct organization banned in Pakistan, misrepresents the reality on the ground. Pakistan has effectively dismantled such outfits, apprehended their leadership, prosecuted them, and implemented comprehensive deradicalization programs.”
The Foreign Office also pointed out India’s repeated misuse of international mechanisms for political purposes, saying:
“While the matter under discussion involves U.S. domestic laws, India has a consistent track record of exploiting such designations to promote anti-Pakistan narratives. These actions aim to deflect global attention from India’s own irresponsible conduct and ongoing human rights violations, particularly in IIOJ&K.”
Pakistan reiterated its commitment to working with the international community to ensure global peace and security through genuine, non-politicized counter-terrorism cooperation.
