Pakistan has strongly denounced Israel’s decision to take control of Gaza City, calling it a dangerous escalation in an already devastating conflict against the Palestinian people.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif criticised the move, saying, “The Israeli cabinet’s approval to illegally occupy Gaza City is a severe intensification of a war that is already causing massive destruction.”

Warning of a Worsening Crisis

He warned that expanding military operations would only make the humanitarian crisis worse, adding that such actions destroy any remaining hope for peace in the region.

Call to Address Root Causes

The prime minister stressed the importance of recognising the root causes of the tragedy. “Peace will remain a distant dream as long as Israel continues its occupation of Palestinian land,” he said.

Support for Palestinian Statehood

Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, Sharif urged the international community to step in immediately and stop Israel’s unjustified aggression.

Foreign Office Echoes Condemnation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) also rejected Israel’s plan. A spokesperson said the move violates United Nations Security Council resolutions and signals an intention to widen the military assault on Gaza.
