Pakistan Collapse Sets Up Easy South Africa Win in Rawalpindi Test

On the previous day, Pakistan began their second innings 71 runs behind South Africa.

RAWALPINDI: In the Rawalpindi Test, Pakistan’s batting faltered again, setting South Africa a low target of just 68 runs. The South African team comfortably chased down the target, losing only two wickets in the process.

From the very start of the fourth day, Pakistan struggled as wickets kept falling quickly during the first session. Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, was the first to go after scoring 50 runs. Soon after, other batsmen also got out cheaply, with Mohammad Rizwan scoring 18 runs.

Salman Ali Agha and Sajid Khan added some runs with 28 and 13 respectively, but Nauman Ali and Shaheen Afridi were dismissed without scoring. Asif Afridi remained unbeaten but did not score.

South Africa’s bowlers dominated the match, with Simon Harmer taking six wickets, Keshav Maharaj two, and Kagiso Rabada one.

Chasing the small target, South Africa lost just two wickets. Adam Markram was the top scorer with 42 runs, while Tristan Stubbs got out for zero and Ryan Rickleton remained not out with 25 runs.

On the previous day, Pakistan began their second innings 71 runs behind South Africa. However, four key batsmen—Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood, Abdullah Shafiq, and Saud Shakeel—were dismissed cheaply, which put the team in a tough spot.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan had posted 333 runs in their first innings, but South Africa replied strongly with 404 runs, gaining a significant lead.
