Pakistan Clinches Historic Victory at Asian Indoor Rowing Championship
PRF Seeks Official Reception, Cash Awards for Champion Rowers
Pattaya: In a monumental achievement that signals a new chapter in Pakistan’s sporting history, the national indoor rowing team delivered a stunning performance at the Asian Indoor Rowing Championship in Pattaya, Thailand — winning a total of 14 medals, including an impressive 10 golds.
Facing stiff competition from 25 participating nations, including regional heavyweights like India, Iran, South Korea, Japan, and host nation Thailand, the Pakistani contingent emerged as a powerful force, defying expectations and earning widespread acclaim across the Asian sports community.
Despite being a relatively small squad, the Pakistani rowers displayed extraordinary determination, technique, and resilience, raising the national flag high and making the national anthem resonate in the international arena.
Upon their triumphant return, the athletes were greeted with a warm welcome organized by the Pakistan Rowing Federation (PRF) and other sports stakeholders. The PRF has since appealed to the federal government, Pakistan Sports Board, and Punjab Sports Board to host an official reception in the team’s honor and award them with cash prizes in recognition of their exceptional performance.
Hamdan Nazir, President of the Pakistan Rowing Federation, and Rizwan-ul-Haq, Chairman of the PRF, lauded the athletes’ historic achievement. “Our rowers have proven that Pakistan can not only compete but also dominate in international rowing events,” said Nazir. “With continued support, we can now set our sights on global championships.”
