Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal): Pakistan is set to receive a massive boost in its textile industry, thanks to a memorandum of understanding signed between the government and China’s Rohi Group. Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar announced that textile parks will be established in Sindh and Punjab, creating employment opportunities for 3 to 5 lakh people locally .
The Chinese conglomerate will invite over 100 Chinese companies to set up shop in these parks, with a total investment of $7 billion – $2 billion in the first phase and $5 billion in the second phase ¹. This move is expected to increase Pakistan’s exports, which have already seen a 14% increase, and reduce the current account deficit ¹ ².
Rohi Group has a proven track record in Pakistan, having completed the Sahiwal Coal Project under CPEC in a record 21 months ¹. The group’s chairman met with the Prime Minister, paving the way for this significant investment.
This development is a significant step towards strengthening Pakistan’s economy and reducing its trade deficit. With the establishment of these textile parks, Pakistan is poised to become a major player in the global textile industry.
