China Pakistan Reaffirm Economic Partnership, Explore Investment in Key Sectors
Washington-(Mudassar Iqbal/News Desk)-Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, held a meeting with Lutfey Y. Siddiqi, Special Envoy to the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, in Washington D.C.
During the discussion, the Minister referred to the recent visit of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister to Dhaka in August 2025, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to advancing regional economic integration. He stressed that long-term, inclusive growth must be driven by the private sector, while the government’s role should focus on enabling policies that attract investment and foster innovation.
Both sides acknowledged the pivotal role of the information technology sector in transforming regional economies and creating skilled employment opportunities for young professionals. Minister Aurangzeb underscored the need for continued collaboration in knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and digital development to enhance mutual progress and regional connectivity.
Earlier, Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, held a meeting with China’s Deputy Finance Minister, Liao Min, in Washington D.C. During the discussion, the minister highlighted Pakistan’s recent Staff-Level Agreement (SLA) with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), describing it as a strong endorsement of the government’s ongoing economic stabilization and reform efforts. He emphasized that the agreement reflects renewed international confidence in Pakistan’s fiscal management and reform trajectory.
He also apprised him of the latest developments regarding the issuance of the Panda Bond in the Chinese market. Mr. Aurangzeb sought China’s support for Pakistans membership in the New Development Bank and welcomed enhanced investment from Chinese enterprises in key sectors including information and communication technology, agriculture, industry, and minerals. The Finance Minister expressed gratitude to the Office of the Executive Director, IMF, for extending full support to Pakistan during recent Board meetings.
