Pakistan Bowled Out for 237 in Second Innings, South Africa Set 148-Run Target for Victory

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s batting woes continued in their second innings of the first Test against South Africa at Centurion, as they were dismissed for 237 runs, setting the hosts a target of 148 for victory. Despite a resilient 50 from Babar Azam and a fighting 84 from Saud Shakeel, Pakistan’s middle and lower order collapsed, leaving South Africa with a manageable target.

The third day’s play was delayed due to rain, which left the pitch covered and damp, causing intermittent disruptions before the match resumed. Pakistan started the day at 88 for 3, but South African pacer Marco Jansen wreaked havoc, claiming six wickets, supported by Kagiso Rabada (2 wickets), Duanne Olivier, and Keegan Petersen, who each took one wicket.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan posted 211 in their first innings, and South Africa scored 301, gaining a 90-run lead. With Pakistan’s second innings total of 237, South Africa needs just 148 runs to win and take a 1-0 series lead.
