Pakistan Begin Sri Lanka T20I Series Ahead World Cup
Pakistan Face Sri Lanka in Crucial T20I World Cup Warm-Up
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s men’s cricket team will face Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series in Dambulla on January 7, 9 and 11, as part of their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. All matches will begin at 7:00 PM local time.
The series is a key step for Pakistan’s national selection committee as it moves closer to finalising the 15-member squad for the global event. With Pakistan set to play all of their World Cup matches in Sri Lanka, the upcoming series offers valuable exposure to local conditions and an opportunity to fine-tune team combinations.
Salman Ali Agha will continue to lead the T20I side after a successful 2025 season, during which Pakistan claimed two tri-series titles and won bilateral T20I series against Bangladesh, West Indies and South Africa. The tour also provides players with a crucial chance to strengthen their World Cup credentials through strong performances against a competitive Sri Lankan side.

Pakistan have enjoyed recent success against Sri Lanka, winning three of their last five T20Is, including victories in the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup knockout match in Dubai and the tri-series final in Rawalpindi.
Speaking ahead of the series, captain Salman Ali Agha said the matches present an ideal platform for players to prove themselves. He emphasized the importance of adapting quickly to conditions and expressed confidence in the squad’s emerging talent.
