Karachi: The IMC Over-40s T20 World Cup began in Karachi with six matches played on the opening day, setting the tone for an exciting tournament.
The highlight of the day came at the National Stadium, where Pakistan secured a thrilling three-run victory over South Africa. After winning the toss, South Africa chose to field first. Pakistan posted 134 for 5 in their allotted overs, with Tariq Mahmood contributing a steady 45 runs and captain Abdul Razzaq adding 36.
South Africa fought back strongly, with Werner Moolman scoring a resilient 55 off 48 balls. However, Pakistan’s bowlers held their nerve in the final overs. Sohail Khan produced a decisive spell, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs in four overs, and was named Player of the Match.

Meanwhile, at Southend Club, the USA recorded a 24-run win over Rest of the Gulf, posting 168 for 5 and following it up with disciplined bowling to secure victory.
