Pakistan-Austria Relations Set for Boost as PM Visits Vienna

PM Shehbaz Sharif to Strengthen Pakistan-Austria Ties

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will pay an official visit to Vienna, Austria, on February 15–16, 2026, at the invitation of Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker. The visit coincides with the completion of 70 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Austria, highlighting the strength and continuity of bilateral ties.

The prime minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold comprehensive bilateral talks with Chancellor Stocker, reviewing political relations, economic cooperation, and collaboration at multilateral platforms. The discussions are expected to lay the groundwork for a forward-looking partnership focused on trade expansion, investment, and diplomatic engagement.

Adding a strong economic component, the prime minister will preside over a meeting of the Pakistan–Austria Business Forum, organized by the Austrian Economic Chamber, to explore new avenues for private-sector cooperation and investment. He will also visit key Vienna-based multilateral institutions, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to international diplomacy and global development frameworks.

Pakistan and Austria enjoy long-standing cordial relations based on mutual respect, dialogue, and shared commitment to multilateralism. Both nations continue to support an international order guided by the principles of the United Nations Charter, international law, and peaceful cooperation.
