ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s government has announced the launch of the second nationwide anti-polio drive of 2026 in an effort to curb the spread of the virus, according to a report aired by Private TV Channel. The campaign is part of the country’s ongoing strategy to eliminate polio and protect children from the debilitating disease.
Pakistan’s foreign reserves rise to twenty one billion dollars
The national polio vaccination campaign will run from April 13 to April 19, during which more than 400,000 frontline workers will take part in administering drops to children across the country. Earlier this year, the first nationwide anti-polio drive was conducted from February 2 to February 8.
Data from the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) indicates that one confirmed polio case has been reported in Pakistan so far in 2026. However, the virus has been detected in environmental sewage samples collected from 24 districts, highlighting the continued risk of transmission and the need for sustained vaccination efforts.
