Pakistan and UAE Discuss Bilateral Cooperation, Focus on Rail Sector

Both sides underscored the longstanding and strong ties between Pakistan and the UAE

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi met with United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Pakistan Ahmed Al-Tahiri on Monday to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation, with a special focus on the rail sector.

Ambassador Al-Tahiri congratulated Hanif Abbasi on his new role and extended best wishes for his tenure. He also expressed his sorrow over the recent terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express in Balochistan, where terrorists attempted to hijack the train and took passengers hostage. The ambassador strongly condemned the attack and offered condolences to the victims and their families.

During the meeting, both sides underscored the longstanding and strong ties between Pakistan and the UAE. Ambassador Al-Tahiri reaffirmed his country’s commitment to further strengthening this partnership, emphasizing the deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.

Minister Hanif Abbasi highlighted the ongoing efforts of Pakistan Railways to improve services through strategic partnerships with both domestic and international suppliers. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment and encouraged UAE investment in the country’s railway infrastructure.

The two sides also explored opportunities for expanding economic and trade relations, particularly in railway projects and other investment areas. They agreed to continue discussions and collaborate further in the rail sector and other economic domains, strengthening the bilateral relationship.
