Pakistan Agrees to 48-Hour Ceasefire at Afghan Taliban’s Request

Islamabad — Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban regime have mutually agreed to a 48-hour temporary ceasefire, following a formal request by the Taliban authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Tuesday.
According to the ministry, the ceasefire took effect at 6 PM today, and is aimed at creating space for constructive dialogue between the two sides to find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing border tensions.
The statement emphasized that despite the complexities of the situation, both parties are committed to pursuing a sincere and diplomatic path forward during this temporary truce.

The ceasefire announcement comes a day after renewed aggression by Afghan Taliban forces, which was met with a strong and effective response by the Pakistan Army.
In Wednesday’s engagement, Pakistani forces carried out targeted operations in the Chaman sector, resulting in the deaths of multiple Taliban fighters.
