Iranian President’s Visit Strengthens Bilateral Relations with Pakistan

Islamabad: In a joint statement issued today, it has been announced that the visit of the President of Iran to Pakistan has resulted in a mutual agreement to enhance bilateral trade and cooperation in various sectors, including energy.

According to the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, both countries have agreed to increase mutual trade to up to $10 billion over the next five years, focusing particularly on energy projects such as electricity transmission and the IP gas pipeline project.

The visit, which took place from April 22nd to April 24th, saw President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi of Iran being welcomed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Alongside high-level discussions, several agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed to further strengthen ties between the two nations.

During the visit, leaders from both sides emphasized the importance of regional stability and the need for continued cooperation to address common challenges. They reaffirmed their commitment to long-term economic partnership and mutual cooperation in various fields, including trade, security, and energy.

Both leaders recognized the potential for economic growth and prosperity through sustained bilateral cooperation, particularly in establishing sustainable economic models based on long-term economic participation and mutual collaboration.

Furthermore, the leaders highlighted the significance of enhancing energy cooperation, particularly through projects aimed at improving electricity transmission and expanding the IP gas pipeline project. They emphasized the importance of these initiatives in promoting regional connectivity and fostering economic development.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations, promote peace and stability in the region, and advance mutual interests through enhanced cooperation in various fields. The visit marks a significant step towards fostering stronger ties between Pakistan and Iran, reinforcing the long-standing bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

PM & Sindh CM Sindh discuss development initiatives

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah engaged in discussions on Wednesday regarding various development projects.

During a meeting held in Karachi during PM’s visit, CM Murad highlighted the challenges faced by Sindh, particularly emphasising concerns over the non-return of funds following direct deductions.

The collaborative efforts between the premier and CM Murad aim to address these issues effectively, ensuring the advancement of development projects in the region.

In a separate event, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid a visit to the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

During his visit, PM Shehbaz laid a wreath on Iqbal’s grave, offered fateha, and was accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori.

Various dignitaries, including Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Commerce Minister Jam Kamal, also paid their respects at the mausoleum, with President Raisi sharing his tribute in the visitors’ book.
