ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, KK Ahsan Wagan, was deported from Los Angeles despite holding a valid visa and complete travel documents, sources revealed on Tuesday.
The senior diplomat, who was on a personal vacation, was stopped by US immigration authorities upon arrival at the airport. According to reports, the denial of entry was linked to an objection in the US immigration system concerning controversial visa references associated with the Pakistani envoy.
Following the incident, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch were briefed. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Pakistani Consulate in Los Angeles to probe the matter and submit a detailed report.
When contacted, the Foreign Office spokesperson refrained from commenting on the issue.
