Owners agree to provide sugar to Punjab govt at Rs140k

Punjab CM likely to visit Multan to inaugurate Nishtar-II hospital on Monday,
Lahore_Tal bekstween sugar mill owners and Punjab government finally led to a a breakthrough after three days of talks on Sunday. A delegation of sugar mill owners met caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday where an greement was finally reached. The mill owners have agreed to sell sugar to the government at the rate of Rs140 per kilogram. Naqvi said that the sugar acquired from the owners will be sold at Itwar bazars and model bazars. He added that the mill owners had agreed to start crushing season on October 28.
The agreement comes days after the price of sugar rose to as high as Rs200 across the country. Official statistics had also admitted that sugar was being sold for as much as Rs200 in many cities, with massive increases in a single week.
In the meeting, it was agreed to start the crushing season from October 28. The owners of sugar mills while briefing the Punjab Chief Minister said that there is an abundant stock of sugar in Punjab. Haroon Akhtar, Zaka Ashraf, Fawad Mukhtar and others were included in the delegation of sugar mills owners while Punjab Minister for Industries SM Tanveer and Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman were also present on the occasion.
While,Syed Mohsin Naqvi is expected to visit Multan to inaugurate the Nishtar-II hospital on Monday.
The Punjab CM will also preside over the first meeting of the caretaker provincial cabinet in Multan.
The sources of the channel also said that the Chief Minister of Punjab is also expected to stay in the city and inaugurate the project of Nishtar-II hospital.
The Nishtar-II Hospital project is a mega tertiary healthcare project worth Rs 9450 million in a spacious 456 Kanal area.
