Overseas Journalists Serving on Two Fronts, Says Pakistan Press Club UK President

Kashmir Cause Will Remain Our Priority, Vow UK Journalists

Mirpur (Web Desk/ Our Correspondent): President of Pakistan Press Club UK, Raja Musarrat Iqbal, and Senior Vice President Arshad Rachyal have said that journalists living in the United Kingdom are performing their responsibilities on “two fronts” — serving their profession abroad while also acting as ambassadors of their homeland.

They expressed these views while addressing a reception held in their honor at the Kashmir Press Club Mirpur. Upon their arrival, President of Kashmir Press Club Mirpur, Syed Abid Shah, along with office-bearers and members, warmly welcomed them with floral garlands.

Speaking on the occasion, Raja Musarrat Iqbal emphasized that overseas Pakistanis contribute billions annually in foreign exchange to the governments of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. However, he noted with concern that no serious institutional efforts have yet been made to resolve the longstanding issues faced by the overseas community.

Senior Vice President Arshad Rachyal stated that British-based Pakistani journalists have consistently highlighted the concerns of their compatriots. “Our hearts beat with the love of our homeland,” he said, adding that the lack of attention to overseas issues has discouraged the younger generation from maintaining closer ties with their country of origin.

President of Kashmir Press Club Mirpur, Syed Abid Shah, praised the exemplary role of Pakistan Press Club UK, stating that the organization has successfully united the community and journalistic circles in the UK while also raising issues concerning their homeland. He added that journalists of Pakistan Press Club UK are playing the role of national ambassadors on the Kashmir issue and contributing towards strengthening Pakistan’s economy.

Senior journalists including Hafiz Muhammad Maqsood, Rana Shabbir Rajouri, Zafar Mughal, Sajjad Jarral, and Zahid Bashir also addressed the ceremony and shared their views.

Raja Musarrat Iqbal and Arshad Rachyal reaffirmed their commitment to continue raising their voices on the Kashmir issue and to further strengthen working relations with Kashmir Press Club Mirpur. They said that the entire team of Pakistan Press Club UK is striving to project a positive image of Pakistan across the world.

On the occasion, Asif Rathore of Pakistan Press Club UK presented a traditional Sindhi Ajrak and cap to Raja Musarrat Iqbal and Arshad Rachyal as a gesture of goodwill.

Raja Musarrat Iqbal also announced the donation of a motorcycle for Kashmir Press Club Mirpur, a gesture that was warmly appreciated by the club’s president and members. The ceremony concluded with a group photo session featuring the visiting delegation and members of the press club.
