Over 150 schoolgirls killed in US, Israeli air attacks

Iran Says Air Strike Kills Schoolgirls In Minab

TEHRAN: (Web Desk) – Air strikes by the United States and Israel on a girls’ primary school in Minab, southern Iran, have reportedly killed more than 150 schoolgirls, according to Iranian officials, as disturbing images showed residents digging through debris in search of survivors.

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations Amir-Saeid Iravani accused Washington and Tel Aviv of deliberately striking civilian targets, including schools and public spaces. Addressing an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council, he said hundreds of civilians had been killed or wounded in what he described as acts of aggression and grave crimes.

“The number of innocent victims continues to rise. This is not merely aggression, it is a war crime and a crime against humanity,” Iravani said, adding that more than 100 children were killed in the attack on the Minab school alone.

Footage from the site showed severe damage to the building, with scorch marks on standing walls and shattered windows, as rescue efforts continued amid the rubble.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said dozens of children were killed when the girls’ school was bombed during daylight hours while classes were in session. He warned that what he called crimes against the Iranian people would not go unanswered.

In response the United States Central Command said it was reviewing reports of civilian casualties and stressed that protecting civilians remained a top priority. The command added that steps were being taken to minimise collateral damage during operations.
