Over 100 fined for parking cars outside HFH gate
City Traffic Police New Town circle on Friday launched a much-awaited operation outside Holy Family Hospital to ensure no parking which was causing problems for ambulances, patients and hospital employees in addition to obstructing traffic flow.
The traffic situation outside the two other government hospitals – District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) and Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) – is not different where a crackdown against wrong parking and vendors is also needed.
During the operation outside the HFH, the traffic police issued 107 tickets to vehicles, including rickshaws and private ambulances, which were violating traffic rules.
The chief traffic officer said that wrong parking outside the hospital gate not only affected the flow of traffic but also caused obstruction to ambulances.
Drivers of public service vehicles, especially ambulances, should show more responsibility and avoid wrong parking outside the entrances and exits of the hospital, he said.
“Our officers are active to ensure smooth flow of traffic and we will ensure the observance of traffic rules in every case to improve the traffic system in the city,” said the CTO.
He reiterated that the traffic police will ensure the observance of traffic rules in every case to improve the traffic system, but at the same time the police will continue to provide awareness about traffic rules among the citizens.
People believe that the city traffic police should continue operations in other parts of the city against encroachments, especially the mushrooming of motorcycle workshops on footpaths along the busiest Murree Road.
The traffic police officials are often seem helpless against drivers of private and transport vehicles who violate traffic rules in front of them.
