Our doors are open for talks: PTI chairman

Gohar expressed dissatisfaction with the ethical standards of the current government.

Rawalpindi: Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar, has stated that the doors for negotiations are open, but the question remains: what negotiations can be held when we are not allowed to speak in the assembly.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar expressed dissatisfaction with the ethical standards of the current government, condemning its inclusion of individuals with questionable integrity in the federal cabinet.

He mentioned the imposition of restrictions on meetings at Adiala Jail, stating that they had submitted a request but were denied.

Barrister Gohar indicated that discussions have taken place regarding candidates, and the party will make a final decision on the matter. Some candidates have already been finalized.

This statement from the PTI Chairman suggests a willingness to engage in dialogue despite the challenges faced, indicating a potential pathway towards resolving differences and moving forward positively.

“Election Commission Announces Schedule for By-Elections in National and Provincial Assemblies”

The Election Commission has released the schedule for by-elections in vacant seats of the national and provincial assemblies. According to the commission, by-elections for vacant seats across the country will be held on April 21st. This includes six seats in the National Assembly, 12 in the Punjab Assembly, two in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, two in the Balochistan Assembly, and one in the Sindh Assembly.

Candidates can submit their nomination papers from March 16th to March 18th, with scrutiny of nomination papers scheduled for March 21st. Appeals against nomination papers can be submitted until March 25th. The Election Tribunal will hear appeals until March 28th, and nomination papers can be withdrawn until March 29th. The final list of candidates will be announced on March 29th, and electoral symbols will be allotted on March 30th.

Additionally, by-elections for six vacant seats in the Senate are scheduled to take place tomorrow. This includes three seats in Balochistan, two in Sindh, and one in Islamabad. The Election Commission has completed all preparations for the by-elections.

Voting will take place in the National Assembly, Sindh, and Balochistan Assemblies. Members of all three assemblies will exercise their right to vote, with polling taking place from 9 am to 4 pm. In the Islamabad seat, Chaudhry Ilyas Meherban of the Sunni Ittehad Council and Yousaf Raza Gillani of the Pakistan Peoples Party are contesting.

In Sindh, the Senate’s by-election is being contested by Jam Saifullah Khan and Mohammad Islam Abro of the Pakistan Peoples Party, while Nazirullah and Shazia Suhail are contesting for the Senate from the Sunni Ittehad Council. Thus, the by-elections for three seats in Balochistan’s Senate will see competition among nine candidates. Yousaf Raza Gillani, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Nasar Khoro, Jam Mahtab, Prince Ahmed Umar, and Sarfraz Bugti resigned from their senatorial positions after their recent election victories
