OPRM Urges Deputy PM to Address Concerns of Pakistanis Abroad
NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar recently visited New York, where he was presented with the Charter of Demand by Naseem Khan Alizai, President of the Overseas Pakistani Rights Movement (OPRM). The charter, unanimously approved by the last All Parties Conference, outlines the key demands of Pakistanis living abroad, including:
– Right to Vote: Allowing Pakistanis to elect their own representatives and contest elections in Pakistan
– Protection of Properties: Ending and protecting the properties of Pakistanis
– Customs Duty Exemption: Allowing overseas Pakistanis to buy a vehicle of their choice without customs duty
– Increased Investments: Resolving the problems of Pakistanis living abroad and protecting their investments, which could increase remittances from $35 billion to $50 billion.

The OPRM urged the Deputy Prime Minister to address these concerns immediately, emphasizing the importance of resolving the problems faced by Pakistanis living abroad.
