Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Bhachar Reaffirms Commitment to PTI Rally in Swabi
Bhachar confirms his attendance and plans to travel in a convoy from Mianwali.
Swabi-(Staff Reporter): Malik Ahmad Bhachar, the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, has reiterated his determination to attend the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Swabi, emphasizing that no obstacles will prevent their participation. Bhachar confirmed that he will be joining the event in a convoy from Mianwali and assured that the leadership from Lahore will reach Swabi by 1 PM today. Meanwhile, PTI Lahore president Sheikh Imtiaz reported that several party members have already arrived in Swabi, and others are in the process of departing for the rally.
In preparation for the rally, the Punjab government has implemented precautionary measures. Police forces in Rawalpindi and Attock have been placed on high alert to handle any potential emergencies. The Central Police Office in Lahore has mobilized 1,500 police officers from four districts, including District Police Officers (DPOs), the Punjab Constabulary, and Highway Patrolling Police, who will be under the command of the Regional Police Officer (RPO) of Rawalpindi. A directive has been issued to ensure that these forces are available to the RPO.
DPOs from Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, and Mandi Bahauddin have been instructed to report to Rawalpindi with 200 personnel each. Furthermore, 500 officers from the Punjab Constabulary and 200 from the Punjab Highway Patrolling Police are to report to Rawalpindi and Attock. All of these police units will operate under the guidance of the RPO Rawalpindi, who will be responsible for the deployment of forces as needed.
In line with security protocols, all deployed police personnel will be equipped with essential anti-riot gear, including tear gas shells, to manage any potential disturbances. The Central Police Office in Rawalpindi and the DPO of Attock will also ensure that all necessary logistical arrangements, such as fuel, transportation, food, and accommodation, are provided for the deployed personnel. This proactive approach underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining security and managing any disruptions related to the PTI rally.
