After a major cheating crackdown, Lahore's 9th class results reveal a surprising 55% failure rate.
Lahore – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has announced the Class 9 results for 2025, and the numbers have caused quite a stir. This year, only 45% of students managed to pass their exams.
Out of 308,000 students who appeared for the exams, a staggering 169,000 could not clear them. The results also showed a significant performance gap between boys and girls.
Concerning Failure Rates Across the Board
The overall figures reveal a troubling trend:

Minister’s Response: A Step Towards Transparency
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat addressed the shocking results. He stated that these numbers reflect the “real performance” of students. He linked the high failure rate to a recent crackdown on cheating networks (known as the “booty mafia”) across Punjab. The minister stressed that while the results are disappointing, they mark a move towards a more honest and transparent examination system.
