At least one person was killed and six others were injured in separate kite-related incidents across Lahore, rescue officials said on Friday, highlighting ongoing safety risks during the festivities. A 25-year-old man, Ali Rashid, lost his life near the Sikh Nullah area after climbing an electric pole to catch a kite and being electrocuted. His body was later handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities. In another incident, eight-year-old Irha sustained serious injuries in Gulshan-e-Ravi when a kite string became entangled around her neck while she was riding a motorcycle with her father, and she was rushed to hospital for treatment. Other incidents included 30-year-old Saqib, who fell from a rooftop while retrieving a kite on Ravi Road, and 12-year-old Abdul Wahid, who was injured while chasing a kite in the Lower Mall area. In Gulshan-e-Ravi, 14-year-old Salman was hurt while climbing a tree to retrieve a kite, while 45-year-old Shabbir suffered neck injuries after a kite string wrapped around him. Additionally, 21-year-old Rafi Tanveer was injured in Defence Phase Five in a similar incident. Rescue officials urged citizens to exercise extreme caution and adhere to safety regulations, noting that violations were reported in several areas despite the festive atmosphere.
