Omar Ayub Criticizes Constitutional Amendment, Claims It Weakens Judiciary

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, criticized the constitutional amendment, describing it as an effort to “weaken” the judiciary.

During the early Monday session of the National Assembly, Ayub raised concerns, saying: “Intezar Panjotha remains missing to this day, and Riaz Fatyana’s son has been abducted twice.”

He questioned the timing of the amendment, asking: “Why couldn’t this constitutional amendment have been passed on October 31? Would the country have come to a standstill if it was passed later?”

Ayub further argued that the amendment should have been referred to the Standing Committee on Law and Justice for review.

He also expressed disappointment, stating that the special committee’s intended purpose had not been fulfilled.
