Oil supply increases as vessel docks at Port Qasim terminal

Fuel shipments arrive as Pakistan works to keep supply steady

Qasim Port – (Web Desk) – A good update for Pakistan’s energy sector. An oil tanker carrying 38,000 metric tons of fuel has reached Port Qasim. This will help improve the country’s fuel supply during uncertain times in the region.

The ship, called MT Virgo, arrived in Karachi early Tuesday around 3am. It is now waiting at the outer anchorage. Officials say it will unload after getting clearance.

Karachi Port officials shared that the tanker had anchored earlier and is now in line for the next step. These fuel shipments are important to keep supply steady across the country.

Earlier on March 13, two more ships reached Karachi from Fujairah in the UAE. They were carrying large amounts of crude oil. The Pakistan Navy escorted them to ensure safety due to security concerns in nearby waters.

Officials from the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation said the process was completed safely. This shows how important security is for such deliveries.

Maritime Affairs Minister Junaid Anwar also said Pakistan has asked Iran for help. Two ships are still stuck in the Persian Gulf. This shows the challenges in keeping fuel supply smooth.

In recent days, additional vessels have contributed to the fuel supply chain, including the gas oil carrier MT Torum Damini, which docked at the Fotco Terminal at Port Qasim, and MT Nave Atropos, which delivered 50,000 metric tonnes of petrol after arriving on March 9.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation vessel Palki remains berthed at the Saudi port of Ras Tanura after being halted due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns about potential disruptions in shipping routes.

A spokesperson for Port Qasim confirmed that another vessel from Fujairah has already reached the port, while more tankers are expected in the coming days to ensure a steady and uninterrupted supply of petroleum products throughout the country.
