OGDCL Increases Oil Production at Pasakhi-5 Well, Strengthening Energy Security
OGDCL Boosts Pasakhi-5 Well Production by 420 BPD with ESP Installation

ISLAMABAD: Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s largest exploration and production company, has successfully revived and enhanced oil production from the Pasakhi-5 well in Hyderabad, Sindh. This achievement comes as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to optimize energy output and contribute to the country’s energy security.
The Pasakhi-5 well, located in the Pasakhi Development & Production Lease (D&PL), is wholly owned by OGDCL, which holds a 100% working interest. To maximize the well’s output, OGDCL deployed a rig and installed an artificial lift system (ESP) to improve oil extraction. Previously, the well produced 480 barrels of oil per day (BPD) through natural flow. Following the installation of the ESP system, production has surged to an impressive 900 BPD, reflecting a significant increase of 420 BPD.
This move aligns with OGDCL’s broader strategy to enhance Pakistan’s energy supply, ensuring the country’s long-term energy security. By deploying cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions, OGDCL is optimizing operational efficiency and unlocking the full potential of Pakistan’s hydrocarbon resources.
