NYC Mayor Condemns Iran Strikes Warns Escalation

New York Mayor Slams US Israel Strikes Warns War

NEW YORK: (Web Desk) – New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has denounced the recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran as unlawful, warning that the escalation could open what he called a dangerous new front of war. His comments were reported on Sunday as tensions in the Middle East continued to rise.

In a statement shared on X, Mamdani said security arrangements across New York City had been reinforced as a precaution. He noted that he was in close and continuous coordination with the New York Police Commissioner and emergency management officials to closely track developments.

The mayor said police patrols had been stepped up at key and sensitive locations across the city. Although no direct or specific threat had been identified, he stressed that protecting residents remained the administration’s highest concern.

Mamdani also addressed New Yorkers of Iranian origin, assuring them that they would remain fully protected. He said no community should feel exposed or unsafe because of international conflicts beyond US borders.

Strongly criticising the strikes, the mayor said the killing of unarmed civilians amounted to opening another theatre of war. He warned that further military escalation would only deepen instability and harm ordinary people rather than bring security.

“The public does not want another war for regime change,” Mamdani said, adding that Americans were demanding peace instead of prolonged conflict. His remarks echo calls from several local leaders urging restraint and de-escalation.

City authorities said there have been no incidents linked to the international crisis so far, but confirmed that security measures would continue to be reviewed and adjusted as needed.
