Quetta(Special Correspondent);Normalcy Returns to Chaman as One Document Regime Restores Order”  Following the implementation of the One Document Regime, life in Chaman city has returned to normalcy after enduring eight months of disruptive sit-ins that led to increased unemployment and frustrations among residents.

The initiative has prompted a surge in applications at the Chaman passport office, with 9,500 tokens issued and 7,500 passports already issued to applicants, alleviating the backlog caused by the prolonged unrest.

In addition to easing tensions caused by the sit-in, normal cross-border movement through Chaman has resumed, including the transit of cargo vehicles under the Pak-Afghan Transit Trade Border agreement.

The prolonged closure of the border and the obstinate sit-in had severely impacted thousands of local laborers and transporters. In response, the government has announced plans to construct a new road and terminal from Murga Faqirzai to the Badini border by December 2024.

This infrastructure development aims to ensure uninterrupted Pak-Afghan trade and facilitate smooth movement of people, eliminating the influence of disruptive elements and ensuring the end of monopoly practices by traders in Chaman.
