No ties with new military leadership, says Imran Khan
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Wednesday his party had no ties with the new military leadership.
The former prime minister, who openly spoke against former Chief of Army Staff retired Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa after his ouster from the PM Office through a no-confidence vote, stated this in an interview with a British broadcaster.
Mr Khan claimed that the establishment went all out to make Chaudhry Parvez Elahi join hands with the PML-N but he did not jump the ship and stayed faithful to the PTI. In return, the PTI chief has offered Mr Elahi to become part of his party.
He also lashed out at the coalition government, stating that it came into power through “auction and not election”. He predicted that the upcoming general election would be held in April.
