No minister in current cabinet is taking salary: Azam Tarar

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has reclaimed approximately 6,100 properties, handing them over to the Evacuee Trust Property Board.

Islamabad (Staff Reporter) — Azam Nazir Tarar, Federal Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, announced that no ministers in the current cabinet are drawing salaries. Furthermore, the ministers are personally paying their own electricity and gas bills. During the Senate session on Wednesday, in response to questions from Senators Falak Naz, Dost Muhammad, Mohsin Aziz, Zeeshan Khanzada, and others, Tarar emphasized the stringent actions to be taken against the issuance of Pakistani national identity cards to foreign nationals.

Tarar highlighted that in Lower Chitral, five NADRA centers are operational, processing 50 identity cards daily and serving over 100 applicants with various services. Additionally, funds have been allocated to establish a NADRA center in Upper Chitral, with two more centers planned. Twenty women are currently employed across the five centers, and the number of centers is being increased proportionally to the population to alleviate difficulties for people traveling from remote areas.

With a firm commitment, Tarar reiterated, “I respond with full responsibility: no minister in the current cabinet is taking a salary. The ministers also pay their own electricity and gas bills.” He mentioned the government’s plan to assess the establishment of NADRA centers and mobile van facilities in Waziristan, ensuring strict measures against the unauthorized issuance of national identity cards to foreigners.

Tarar also addressed the convenience provided to commuters in Islamabad through the Metro Bus Service, which operates on various routes with a government subsidy of 700 million rupees. Over the past five years, three new routes have been introduced, with more routes planned, benefiting thousands of passengers daily.
