9.5 MW Additional Electricity to Ease Gilgit’s Power Crisis in October,

Gilgit-(Musab Khliq)-Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan stressed the importance of timely completion of the Regional Grid Phase-I and 16 MW Hydropower Project Naltar during a meeting. He emphasized that these projects are crucial for the region’s development. “The timelines of these projects should be ensured in all cases,” Khan said. “The ongoing work of Regional Grid Phase-I should be expedited, and the construction of the grid station should be completed soon to start work on transmission lines.”

Khan directed the Secretary Electronics and Project Director to ensure the use of quality materials, testing them in laboratories before installation.

“Transparency should be ensured in all phases of the regional grid,” Khan added. “I will visit the grid station soon to review the construction work.”

To address delays in PSDP mega projects, Khan announced the formation of a special monitoring team. This team will oversee project quality and speed, submitting reports to the Chief Minister Secretariat.

Regarding the 16 MW Naltar Power Project, Khan warned of strict disciplinary action if civil work is not completed by October.

“Despite repeated assurances and written timelines, work on the project has been slow,” Khan said. “The 16 MW Power Project Naltar is vital to overcoming Gilgit’s power crisis.”

The Chief Minister assured that 9.5 MW of additional electricity will be added to Gilgit’s system in October, providing relief to residents during winter.

Secretary Electronics and Project Directors for the 16 MW Naltar Project and Regional Grid Phase-I provided detailed briefings during the meeting.

Khan’s directives aim to ensure efficient project implementation, addressing Gilgit-Baltistan’s infrastructure and energy needs.
