New Zealand Reaches Women’s T20 World Cup Final with Close Win Over West Indies

New Zealand advanced to the Women’s T20 World Cup final after a narrow eight-run victory over the West Indies in Sharjah on Friday.

Opting to bat first on October 18, New Zealand set a target of 128 runs for nine wickets, with strong contributions from Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer.

West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin delivered an impressive performance, claiming four wickets for 22 runs, and later added 33 runs from 22 balls to keep her side competitive.

However, the West Indies fell just short, ending their innings at 120 for eight.

New Zealand will now face South Africa in the final, marking their third World Cup final appearance, having been runners-up in 2009 and 2010.

Captain Sophie Devine praised her team’s determination and expressed confidence in their chances, looking forward to the upcoming clash.
