New PM well aware of country’s basic issues, Qureshi
Hamad Azhar says PTI not consulted on Caretaker PM
LAHORE – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice-Chairman and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that newly appointed Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar was an education person.
Qureshi said Kakar belonged to a small province and he was well aware of basic issues of the country. He expressed these words in an interview to a local private TV on Saturday.
The PTI vice-chairman regretted that his party was not consulted over nomination of the caretaker prime minister.
“One party from PDM, however, is not happy with Senator Kakar’s nomination,” said Qureshi making comment on the newly appointed caretaker prime minister. He was of the view that it was the responsibility of the caretaker PM that he should ensure timely elections in the country.
The reaction came after President Alvi approved the appointment of Kakar as caretaker PM under Article 224 A of the Constitution.
PM Shehbaz expressed gratitude for Opposition Leader Raja Riaz for cooperation during the consultation process for nomination of the caretaker prime minister.
Senator Anwarul Haq Kakar is the leader of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and belongs to Balochistan province. He was elected as Senator back in 2018. He served the BAP as parliamentary leader in the Senate during this period.
Kakar also headed the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development. He also served as member of the Business Advisory Committee, Finance and Revenue, Science and Technology and Foreign Affairs.

Using his social media platform X, he said now there is a heavy responsibility on the shoulders of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar.
“We expect that he will ensure elections within three months following the constitution and will not allow any encroachment on the democratic rights of the people,” he remarked.
The former federal minister said it is necessary to give a fair environment to all the political parties in the election campaign.
Holding a free and fair election is the need of the hour and vital for the country, he added.
Hamad Azhar continued that hundreds of PTI activists are currently imprisoned in fake cases and there is a lot of anxiety and doubts prevailing in the nation.
The Caretaker Prime Minister will have to take immediate notice of this matter as well, Hamad Azhar hinted, adding Pakistan cannot afford any new adventure at this critical time.
