New CDF Notification to Be Issued Carefully, No Obstruction by Nawaz Sharif: Rana Sanaullah
Rana Sanaullah clarified that considering a matter and making a final decision are two different things.
ISLAMABAD: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has stated that the new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) institution will be of significant importance, and therefore, no notification will be issued in haste.
Speaking at the Parliament House, he explained that the process will be completed according to the time required after the Prime Minister’s return to the country. He emphasized that the constitution comes first, followed by laws and rules, and all stages require extreme caution.
Rana Sanaullah clarified that considering a matter and making a final decision are two different things. While various options may arise at different times, no conclusive opinion can be given until a final decision is made.

He further stated that under the new constitutional amendment, the CDF’s notification will mark the official start of its five-year tenure. He strongly denied reports suggesting that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is causing any delays, asserting that Nawaz Sharif has never expressed a negative view regarding the CDF and that misinformation is being spread unnecessarily.
Regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Rana Sanaullah said a PTI delegation had come to meet the Speaker and was informed that the matter would be presented after the Prime Minister’s return. However, following the delegation’s departure, threatening behavior from the Chief Minister was observed, after which such meetings were deemed inappropriate.
