PERTH — A new record was set on the first day of the Ashes series as 43,591 spectators attended the opening Test between England and Australia at Perth Stadium, marking the largest crowd ever for a Test match in the city.

On the field, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc stole the show. England’s entire team was bowled out for 172 runs after lunch, with Starc taking a devastating 7 wickets for just 58 runs. For England, Harry Brook was the top scorer with 52 runs.
