Israel Refuses Gaza Withdrawal Until Hamas Is Completely Disarmed
TEL AVIV: (News Desk) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected key elements of US President Donald Trump’s proposed 15-point peace plan for Gaza, saying Israeli forces will not withdraw from the territory until Hamas is fully disarmed.
According to Israeli media reports, Netanyahu said Israel was not seeking a temporary or symbolic reduction in Hamas’s military capabilities, but its complete disarmament.
The Israeli prime minister said discussions with Washington were continuing and that some of the proposals put forward by US officials were acceptable, while others remained unacceptable to Israel.
Netanyahu’s position could pose a challenge to efforts to advance Trump’s Gaza peace initiative, which was presented as a framework aimed at moving the region beyond the current ceasefire situation and toward long-term stability and economic recovery.
The dispute centres on the future of Israeli forces in Gaza and the conditions required for their withdrawal. While the US proposal seeks to establish a pathway toward peace and reconstruction, Israel continues to insist that Hamas must first be completely disarmed.
Further negotiations between Washington and Tel Aviv are expected as both sides work to resolve their differences over the proposed framework.
