NEPRA set to decide tomorrow on Rs1.78 tariff increase

NEPRA to decide tomorrow on proposed Rs1.78 per unit electricity tariff hike affecting consumers nationwide including Karachi.

NEPRA – (Web Desk) – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is expected to announce its decision tomorrow on a proposed increase in electricity tariffs.

The government has requested an additional Rs1.78 per unit, which would affect consumers nationwide, including Karachi.

If approved, this adjustment will also apply to K-Electric, the main power distributor in the city.

A hearing on the proposed increase under the monthly fuel price adjustment mechanism is scheduled to take place at NEPRA tomorrow.

As per the channel report, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a request to Nepra seeking a Rs1.78 per unit increase as part of the January 2026 fuel price adjustment.

At present, the December 2025 monthly adjustment is in force for consumers nationwide, including in Karachi. Under that adjustment, electricity tariffs were increased by 28 paisas per unit.
