NEPRA Considers Power Tariff Reduction of 57 Paisa Per Unit

In a welcomed step for electricity consumers, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has concluded a hearing on a proposal to reduce the power tariff by 57 paisa per unit for a one-month period.
If approved, this reduction could provide much-needed relief to consumers who have been facing steep electricity bills. NEPRA will now analyze the data presented during the hearing before making a final ruling.
Should the proposal move forward, it could lead to a collective savings of over Rs 7 billion for consumers nationwide. Many households and businesses are eagerly awaiting the decision, hoping for some financial relief amid escalating utility costs.
While the potential reduction may offer temporary respite, it does little to address the broader issue of high electricity rates that continue to burden many Pakistanis.
