NEPRA Announces Reduction in Electricity Prices for Consumers Across Pakistan

Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has officially announced a reduction in electricity prices for consumers across Pakistan under its monthly adjustment mechanism. The price cut will bring relief to millions of consumers, as the new rates are set to be reflected in March’s electricity bills.

In its latest notification, NEPRA stated that consumers in Karachi will experience a reduction of Rs3 per unit. Meanwhile, electricity rates for consumers in the rest of the country will decrease by Rs2.12 per unit.

The price reduction for Karachi residents is based on the monthly adjustment for December 2024, while the price cut for consumers across the rest of the nation is part of the January 2025 adjustment. This move is expected to provide financial relief to households and businesses, particularly during the ongoing winter months.

NEPRA’s decision follows its ongoing efforts to regulate electricity tariffs and bring more affordability to consumers while ensuring a balance in the country’s energy sector. The adjustments will be reflected in the upcoming March electricity bills, offering much-needed respite from the high electricity costs that have burdened Pakistani consumers.
