Negotiation Panel Formed on Suspension Case of Punjab Opposition Lawmakers

 

Lahore-(Asif Iqbal)-The Punjab Assembly has witnessed a significant development regarding the suspension reference filed against opposition members, as an eight-member government negotiation committee has been constituted, sources confirmed on Saturday.

According to sources, Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has formed the committee to engage in dialogue with the opposition over the issue of suspended lawmakers.

The ruling coalition’s committee includes Chief Whip Rana Arshad, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Provincial Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, Samiullah Khan, and Ahmad Iqbal. Additionally, Ali Haider Gilani from the PPP, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain from the PML-Q, and Shoaib Siddiqui from the IPP have also been included as part of the negotiation panel.

Sources further revealed that the opposition is likely to submit its list of nominees to the Speaker’s Office today. The expected names include Leader of the Opposition Ahmad Khan Bhachar, Parliamentary Leader Ali Imtiaz Warraich, Lahore President Sheikh Imtiaz, Ejaz Shafi, and others.

It is expected that the opposition will finalize its negotiation team later today, with Leader of the Opposition Ahmad Khan Bhachar taking the lead in the formation of the committee.

The second session of talks between the government and opposition negotiation committees is scheduled for Sunday at 4:30 PM at the Punjab Assembly premises, according to insiders.

Both sides are expected to finalize their proposals and negotiation terms before the session begins, signaling a potential breakthrough in the ongoing parliamentary standoff.
