Nearly 700 Lives Lost in Recent Israeli Strikes in Lebanon

Targeted bombardments lead to tragic civilian toll, including Syrian migrants; calls for cease-fire grow louder.

Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have resulted in nearly 700 fatalities this week, as reported by Lebanon’s health ministry, amidst Israel’s intensified military campaign against Hezbollah.

The bombardment, which has targeted senior Hezbollah officials, has caused significant civilian casualties, including a recent strike that claimed the lives of 20 individuals, primarily Syrian migrants.

On Thursday, Israeli forces carried out several strikes, leading to additional deaths and injuries, including two fatalities in an apartment complex in southern Beirut.

The total death toll in Lebanon since the escalation of conflict now stands at 696, with over 1,540 casualties recorded since hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel erupted last October.

In light of the violence, Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bouhabib has called for an immediate cease-fire, warning of potential broader repercussions for regional stability.

International leaders, including those from the United States and France, are urging for a 21-day cease-fire to facilitate negotiations amid concerns of a full-scale war.
