NDMA warns Karachi residents of potential urban flooding today

Officials ask you to stay safe and have an emergency kit ready with supplies.

Karachi – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an urgent weather alert for Karachi and Hyderabad. From August 24th to the 28th, both cities are set to experience heavy rains, which brings a serious risk of urban flooding.

Residents in Hyderabad should prepare for heavy downpours accompanied by thunder and lightning. This significantly increases the potential for flooding in city areas. Karachi is also forecast to receive substantial rainfall, expected to begin on Thursday night.

To stay safe, the NDMA advises everyone to take simple precautions. Please avoid travelling on waterlogged roads and keep a safe distance from any fallen electric poles. Be extra careful when using electrical appliances in your home.

It is also wise to check that drains around your property are clear to stop water from pooling. If you live in a low-lying area, now is the time to prepare a simple emergency kit. This should include items like drinking water, non-perishable food, a flashlight with batteries, and a basic first-aid kit.
