NDMA Issues Alert for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Heavy Rains and Flood Risks Ahead
Islamabad: The National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, warning of potential severe weather conditions in the next 24 hours.
According to the NDMA report, several districts including Charsadda, Chitral (both Lower and Upper), Mansehra, Peshawar, Shangla, and Swat are likely to experience heavy rains. The forecast warns of the risk of urban flooding, overflowing rivers and streams, and potential landslides in hilly areas due to continuous and intense rainfall.
Provincial authorities have been put on high alert, instructed to ensure the readiness of necessary equipment, machinery, and rescue personnel in vulnerable areas. The NDMA has urged the public to stay informed about the weather conditions and updates, avoiding crossing flooded areas and wading into floodwaters. Tourists and travelers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the heavy rains and potential flood and landslide situations.
To ensure timely access to information and alerts, the NDMA has introduced the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert application, aimed at keeping the public informed and prepared during emergency situations.
